She says I owe sars money, I ask her what money cause I've never worked before, I talk her the money that I received is from child support grant. Then she hang up the phone. When I tried to call the number again is disconnected.Definetly a scam.

Pretended to be SARS. Wanted to "check my details". (Scam call) reported by


The woman said I owed R3 000+ in taxes and R24 000+ in fines. I said it could not be as my tax affairs are up to date. The line was very bad, so I struggled to hear her. Then asked her to email the whole situation to me as I could not hear her. Then she asked my email address. I said if she was from SARS she should have it. I then told her that 1. I struggled to hear her, 2. Did not trust her and 3. Was going to end the call. Which I did. Tried to call back a few times, but every time the "call failed".

Caller claimed to be from SARS. He was reluctant to give his name. He said that I defaulted on my payment arrangement with SARS. I have no payment arrangement with SARS - I don't owe SARS any money. I told him that I didn't have any payment arrangement with SARS. he said that a payment arrangement was set up for me. I ended the call. I believe this person is a scammer.

I received a call from this number. Initially the line was bad but as soon as the line cleared the lady told me she was from SARS. She asked to speak to my grandmother (my number is listed as a contact on most of my gran's medical documents). I told the lady that my gran is in an old aged home and asked how I could help. She said that my gran needed to pay SARS an outstanding amount. I asked her how that is possible as my gran is nearly 100 and haven't worked for years. She then stated that it is an old debt and that she will email everything to me. I thought it very strange as my gran hasn't worked in over 30 years. Still waiting for that email... tried to call back to follow up but unable to get through.

The lady was very polite and thanked me for submitting my company returns. She thanked me a number of time for submitting. Then she said that my Company Owes SARs an amount, I told her that I will check with my accountant. that's when she asked for my name and told me to have a nice day. That was a strange call from SARS...I'm assuming that this was a scam. I tried calling this number back and it does not go through. My account advised to refer SARS to them in future. Please be careful out there....
