Received a call from 021 140 0509 showing Standard Bank Fraud Division, asking me to call 0800 005 559 regarding a possible fraudulent transaction on my credit card. Robot voice sounds like Standard Bank's.

I just collected my new credit card so i find this too much of a coincidence, guys claims fraudulent acitivity on my card and request my ID number, of course i supplied the incorrect number which he detected on his "system", also has my card number which is concerning

Fraudsters claiming to be from Standard Bank Fraud Department (Robocall) reported by


This is a robot call claiming to be from Fraud Department. Very convincing with the same robotic voice prompts used by Standard Bank. Even uses the same hold music, albeit poor quality audio. They list two transfers that was supposedly declined for you to confirm and then tries to transfer you to an agent. After holding they instruct you to call 0800 005 559 which is NOT Standard Bank's Fraud Department Number. These are definitely scammers.

Same experience here. The use SB voice and message but non SB number. Rather call SB Fraud directly at the number provide on the net.

This call's style, from the robo voice to the insistence and crisis announcement is how scammers approach their victims. If this is Standard Bank, then this is undermining any messaging they are distributing by asking folks not to respond to unsolicited calls. Getting people comfortable with this style of interaction with a bank is training for being a fraud victim. I blocked the number, I suggest you do too.

This number called me I answered, and when they start going though numbers of birth dates and said I must choose the right corresponding number things got fishy I put the phone down. Logged onto the my internet banking to confirm if that transaction what there and it was not. I believe this is a fishing message being passed around any purchase using your card details will request one time password and you will always get prompted for it so dont answer that call. also compare the number to Standard Banks anti fraud help line
