I was told that interest was overcharged. I had to supply my bank details in order for the refund to be deposited. Was told it would take 7 to 14 days.

They called me and I gave my banking details and week later money was in my account.

They called me also after 5yrs...I payed R3000+ too much ...so they payed me back . I really thought UT was a scam ...cos after 5yrs!!

Received sms stating an amount was owed to me by Woolies. I have not had a woolies account in over a decade.

The person who called you only acts as an agent of woolworths. there will be many S.A citizens receiving refunds due to over charged interest on loan or the instore account. Feeling unsure email [email protected] with the reference number.They could give you more information OR call 021 411 500. I am in the process with my dads refund.They do require banking details and copy of your id. This is woolworths financial services head office based in observatory Cape Town.
Do the exercise by calling them or get your daughters and sons to help.
I do hope this helps anyone out here not knowing.

Hi Charmaine - this is not a scam. I received an sms yesterday from Woolies stating that they have tried to call me re the refund. I called Woolies Financial Services today on 0861 50 20 20. They confirmed they are dealing with interest refunds. The took my name and ID and transferred me to collections. I also have not used my store card in years. Please do call and claim your refund.

It's definitely not a scam. I received a sms last week. Called them confirmed my banking details. Today my refund was paid into my bank account.

THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THEY OWED ME MONEY ON A WOOLWORTHS ACCOUNT THAT I CLOSED YEARS AGO AND THEY NEED TO REFUND ME BACK THE INTEREST. I DIDN'T CONFIRM MY ID NO. OR GIVE THEM MY BANKING DETAILS BECAUSE I RECKON IF THEY HAVE INFORMATION ON WHAT I PAID ON MY ACCOUNT AND MY ACCOUNT WAS BEING DEBITED AT THE TIME, THEY SHOULD AT LEAST HAVE AN IDEA ON WHAT BANK I WAS USING AND THEY JUST NEED TO CONFIRM IF IT'S STILL THE SAME DETAILS

They called saying that excess intrest was charged years ago on a closed woolworths account. An email was received on what looked like a genuine letterhead. The only alerting suspicion was the reference to a "wollie's" card; I believe that to be more colloquial than business-like. Whether scam or truth is still to be determined.
