Claimed to be ABSA-wants you to confirm sensitive details, quotes facts about your products with ABSA, sends a follow up SMS from a regular cell number requesting personal info. I reported to ABSA fraud line- ABSA confirmed it is FRAUD!!!

A guy called me today named Jaco claiming to work for Absa but he asked me for identity details an to retell him my number I pretended the line was faulty an cut the call but I did report it him to my local branch but what I don't understand no one has my bank phone number how did he know I'm banking with absa

They called me to say my ABSA banking profile shows I don’t have an investment advisor - and that it doesn’t matter that I already have an ABSA personal banker. I said I’m not interested - then they wanted to confirm the last 7 digits of my ID number - which I thought was completely unacceptable

ABSA - they phoneme and ask me for details to verify that I am who I say I am, doesnt feel right to me. I would understand if it was I who phoned them, but they now think it is safe for me to give everyone who phones me my personal details, ID numbet, etc etc. This is ridiculous, can they not see how this can lead to me giving others then also the same information!?
