The person said the were from the Road Accident Fund (Scam call) reported by


The person said they were an attorney from ABSA (Road Accident Fund department) and they were calling about a 2nd claim on my RAF claim. I do not have a RAF claim. I reported this to ABSA and they said it’s a fraudulent number and a phishing scam.

Phishing? (Unsolicited call) reported by


Caller professed to be from Absa Home Loans. Demanded my ID number for "verification". I demurred and caller got rude; ordered me to visit an Absa branch but refused to say why. This looked like a classic pressure tactic. I declined politely and caller turned from rude to menacing. I terminated the call but was rattled. I regularly receive e-mails and SMS texts from Absa so I doubt they would just call me out of the blue if something required attention. Then again, Absa has made my life hell before because of some procedural failure on their side so who knows.
