Confirmation of Cellphone contract (Scam call) reported by Shahnaaz

This caller told me that they are from a company (sadly I cannot remember the name of the name of the company she said she was from) on the behalf of Cell C. The reason for the call was to check if my information is correct with Cell C regarding my contract. I proceeded with the call answering her questions but grew highly suspicious when she started asking details of my Bank. This details were what bank am I using, type of account, when is it my debit order date and what is my account number. As soon as she asked about my account number, my gut told me this is definitely a scammer. I kindly asked her to hold on the line as I needed to find out what my details were. I placed the call on hold. Using my other phone, I phone Cell C customer care to confirm with them about having agents of theirs calling people for their details. Cell C agent confirmed with me that Cell C never calls their clients asking for details nor do they have a company that does this for them, and they confirm that it is a scammer trying to steal my banking details. I thanked the Cell C agent for confirming my suspicion and I ended the call I had on hold with the scammer. I proceeded to block the number from my phone to hopefully prevent any further scams from that number.

I had a similar call and I also started suspecting things when they asked me to confirm my account number. I said that it would be best if I discuss it with a CellC rep in store and the person promptly hung up

Spam - Scam (Nuisance call) reported by Fustbariclation

Daily calls, at the same time, rings twice, then disconnects. Afterwards it sends a spam SMS along with apam advertising - today for 'Christian Dating' offering 'WIN R2000 Dial *117*7283*23#
