Why do companies think it's okay to intrude into people's privacy uninvited because they want to sell you some or other thing? In terms of ECTA (2002), this is "unsolicited commercial communication" and as such subject to s43 of ECTA which requires them (1) to tell you where they got your details if you ask, and (2) remove you from their their list if you tell them to. Otherwise, they are committing a punishable offence.
